Geospatial Systems Engineer (Greensboro, NC)

We are seeking a Geospatial systems engineer for our client, a leading global security and aerospace company. You will support the design, prototyping, documentation, and demonstration of components of an advanced geospatial processing system and advanced geospatial workflows in pursuit of new business opportunities.

This is a 12-month contract (extensions likely), 40-hour-per-week role (4 days, 10 hrs/day). This role is onsite in Greensboro, NC. 

MUST be a US citizen.

 This is a W2 role as a Stage 4 Solutions employee. Health benefits and 401K are offered. 

 Responsibilities: 

• Advancing the standards of practice for geospatial technologies at the client.
• Design, develop, deliver, and support software and GIS workflows that solve our customers’ varied challenges. Designing, developing, testing, documenting, and demonstrating advanced geospatial workflows.
• Processing varied geospatial datasets.
• Preparing presentation materials.
• Presenting new technologies and workflows.
• Supporting the team in planning and strategy workshops.
• Contribute to the requirements evolution and integration of the software used in global geospatial
• data production.
• Participating in agile planning meetings.

Requirements: 

• Experience with GIS desktop applications i.e. ArcGIS Pro/Desktop, Global Mapper, QGIS.
• Experience with photogrammetry and/or electronic light table (ELT) desktop applications i.e. ENVI, Erdas Imagine, SocetGXP.
• Experience with U.S. DoD GEOINT mission requirements.
• Extensive data production, formatting and manipulation experience with Digital Elevation Models,
• Satellite Imagery, Point Clouds and Derived Datasets (Vector/Raster, PCs and 3D Meshs) used in large-scale correlated databases.
• Exposure to formats: ntf, tif, laz, heif,, copc, xml, cog, shp, gpkg, json, jp2k, pbr, rpb.
• Geographic Image Mosaic Production.
• Experience with Geospatial software products: Global Mapper, QGIS, ENVI, ERDAS, ESRI, etc.
• Experience with Geospatial Libraries: GDAL/OGR, GEOS, PROJ, numpy, fiona, shapely, pandas, etc
• Linux Experience.
• Experience writing automation routines: python, bash, powershell, etc.
• Matlab Mapping Toolbox a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• US Citizenship or Qualifying US Persons.
