We are one of the largest, global co-living companies in the world. We buy, renovate and manage co-living buildings - creating a massive network of fully furnished accommodations across the New York, Washington DC, Brussels, Paris, Madrid and London. The company was founded 8 years ago in Brussels and has already established itself as one of the fastest growing residential start-ups in the world. We recently raised $450MM to continue to fund our global expansion plans over the next few years.

In the US, the company has 25 properties under management in New York City and Washington DC with plans to acquire 10-15 new properties annually while launching 2-3 more American cities. To support our U.S. growth, we are looking for an Accounting Manager to help pay, manage and track our US expenses. The accounting manager could either be based in the New York or Brussels- supervised locally by our Head of US Finance and report directly to our CFO, based in Brussels.

The hire would be expected to travel to and from Brussels (or NYC) several times throughout the year.

Responsibilities

Accounting:

  • Day-to-day bookkeeping (AP, AR, etc.)
  • Set-up and thorough follow-up of analytical accounting
  • VAT & withholding tax filing
  • Annual balance filing in collaboration with our external accountants
  • Support the Head of Finance to the preparation of quarterly consolidated (IFRS) figures to report to shareholders
  • Ensure the accurate and timely monthly closings in compliance with local GAAP

Budgeting and reporting:

  • Cost and revenue analysis based on historical data
  • Build and maintain monthly budget follow-up reports
  • Participate to the yearly budget based on cost and revenue analysis and gather the inputs from business

Cash Management:

  • Execution of day-to-day payments
  • Planning of payments and receivables to reduce working capital

Admin and HR:

  • Monthly Payroll
  • General office management tasks

Qualifications

An accounting profile with 4+ years experience with an experience. Knowledge of the real estate industry and experience in an accounting firm is a plus. The person should have following skills:

  • Be independent and able to assess very well what he/she can decide or undertake him/herself and what he/she needs to escalate to the top management.
  • Analytical approach and problem-solving attitude. You can easily understand complex matters and come up with innovative and strong solutions.
  • 'People person’ with great customer service skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, you are a self-starter and eager to deliver the best results. You come up with great initiatives and you are a driver for continuous improvement. You're also of a curious nature.
  • You're a perfectly organised and meticulous individual.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Bonus points if you can speak French.
