The Network Engineer is responsible for expanding, maintaining, and optimizing the networking environment of the organization. This includes directing system installation, establishing system configurations, enforcing system standards, and ensuring network security. The role involves planning, testing, and implementing upgrades to data network equipment, as well as troubleshooting network issues and optimizing network performance. The Network Engineer will lead project teams, develop project plans, and ensure successful project implementation, adhering to budgetary and timeline constraints. Additionally, mentoring less experienced staff and providing technical leadership in the architecture discipline are essential aspects of this role.

Responsibilities:

Expand and maintain the networking environment by:

Establishing system configurations.

Directing system installation.

Defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.

Plan, test, and implement upgrades to data network equipment.

Establish configuration standards and configure routing and switching equipment.

Maximize network performance, troubleshoot network problems and outages, and schedule upgrades, collaborating with network architects on network optimization.

Secure network systems by enforcing policies.

Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information, managing projects throughout their full life cycle.

Establish and lead project teams, providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff.

Develop project plans, scopes, schedules, costs, and communications.

Procure and/or manage resources, timelines, deadlines, and quality.

Manage risk, issues, and changes effectively to ensure successful project implementation.

Apply engineering principles to design and enhance new and existing systems, ensuring compliance with industry engineering and information security principles and practices.

Document new system components or modifications to existing components.

Perform engineering tasks and assignments in support of business needs.

Conduct engineering technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration for new and modified systems.

Provide technical leadership in the architecture discipline and the development of information technology solutions.

Present clear, organized, and concise information to all audiences through a variety of media to enable effective business decisions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology field or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

Working knowledge of general network technologies including Routing and Switching.

Proficiency in routing protocol function, operations, and troubleshooting.

Ability to learn new technologies through self-study and formal training.

SD-WAN experience required, with the willingness to grow skills for SD-WAN and related technologies.

Working knowledge of engineering discipline.

Experience in tracking budget expenses and project management.

Strong problem-solving, LAN knowledge, network design and implementation, network troubleshooting, network hardware configuration, network performance tuning, and people management skills.

Advanced skills in database and presentation software, research, analytical, verbal and written communication, word processing, spreadsheet software, organizational planning, time management, initiative, judgment, guiding, and training.

Desired:

CCNP, CCIE (Datacenter, Security), or other IT certifications.
