Family Support Specialist: Help Me Grow

What You'll Do:
Your role will be to collaborate with the Help Me Grow framework, supporting children from birth through 3rd grade and their families. You will build trusting relationships with families, assess their needs, and work with a team to develop individualized family support plans. You’ll serve as a key advocate, connecting families to essential resources and helping them navigate various systems, including healthcare and education.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Family Engagement:
- Build trusting relationships with families and caregivers through regular communication and home visits.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify family strengths, challenges, and goals.
- Develop and implement individualized family support plans in collaboration with families and the behavioral health team as fits with the Help Me Grow framework.
- Resource Coordination:
- Connect families with community resources, services, and support networks as outlined by the Help Me Grow framework.
- Assist families in navigating systems such as healthcare, education, and social services.
- Provide information and guidance on accessing financial assistance, housing, and other essential
services.
- Advocacy and Support:
- Advocate for the needs and rights of families and children within various systems and settings.
- Offer emotional support, guidance, and practical assistance to families in crisis.
- Facilitate support groups and workshops for parents and caregivers to enhance their knowledge and skills.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with clinicians, case managers, and other professionals as needed to support family goals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss family progress and coordinate care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all interactions and services provided.
- Education & Training:
- Educate families about behavioral health conditions, treatment options, and other aspects of child development and parenting as outlined by the Help me Grow framework.
- Provide training on parenting techniques, stress management, and effective communication.
- Stay informed about the latest research, best practices, and resources in the field of children's behavioral
health.
What We're Looking For:
- TDMHSAS Family Support Specialist Certification (required)
- 2+ years of experience in a behavioral health or social services setting
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field (preferred)
