Education:

Minimum: Graduate from a Registered Professional Nursing Program. 

Preferred:  BSN

 

License Required: 

Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.

 

Certifications Preferred:

Certification in MDS and PRI; BLS through RQI upon hire.

 

Minimum: 

  • Familiarity with documentation requirements for reimbursement.  Knowledge of New York State Department of Health regulations,and survey process.  MDS, and care planning experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.  Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.  Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.  Computer literacy

 

Preferred: 

Experience with Microsoft Office products and MDS/care planning software.

Requirements:

The staff member must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed by adult and geriatric patient group.

Responsibility

Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing-LTC, coordinates all Medicare assessments, care planning, and reimbursement activities for the facility to assure compliance with regulatory agencies.

 

Essential Job Functions:

(Maximum of the first 5 will be included in the performance appraisal)

  • Assures completion of MDS in accordance with regulatory requirements including: interpreting new standards, scheduling and communicating schedule to IDC team,  attending care plan meetings as needed,  assuring completion of all MDS's, completing MDS as assigned , assuring completion of CAAs, and submission of MDS data per regulation. Monitoring and interpreting Quality Measures.
  • Effectively coordinates reimbursement activities for the facility including: makes reimbursement decisions, completes denial protocol, and maintains records. Acts as a liaison between Nursing, Therapy, and Resident Accounts.    
  • Provides documentation oversight and assuring compliance including: reimbursement guidelines requirements, identifying documentation needs and reviews with the Nurse Manager/DON, and provides in servicing as appropriate.  Submission of MDS census data collection for Medicaid reimbursement. 

 

Skills and Certifications:

Familiarity with documentation requirements for reimbursement.

Knowledge of New York State Department of Health regulations, and survey process.

Current New York state Registered Professional Nurse License
