Network/System Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network/System Engineer with Security Expertise to manage and secure our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring systems and network environments while ensuring adherence to security best practices and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and firewall infrastructure.

  • Administer and support Windows/Linux servers, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Monitor network and system performance, identify issues, and ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.

  • Implement and manage network security solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and access controls.

  • Perform regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and patch management.

  • Develop and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS).

  • Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.

  • Support backup and disaster recovery planning and execution.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure, security, and DevOps initiatives.

  • Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and network architecture.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3–7+ years of experience as a Network Engineer or System Engineer with a strong emphasis on security.

  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA).

  • Experience with Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.), and Active Directory.

  • Familiarity with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar), IDS/IPS, and endpoint detection platforms.

  • Working knowledge of cloud security, identity management, and IAM policies.

  • Strong understanding of network segmentation, zero trust architecture, and data encryption.

  • Proficient in PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation.

  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).

  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CISSP.

  • Experience with DevOps security practices, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks like GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.

  • Relevant certifications preferred.
