Overview:

The successful candidate will be involved in comprehensive audits of construction and consultant contracts for services performed at key Authority facilities, including but not limited to the World Trade Center site, airports, bridges, tunnels, ports, and the Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation (PATH).

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct financial and compliance audits as part of the internal audit team under the direct supervision of the Authority’s Audit Department staff.
• Review operational components, ensuring compliance and efficient operation within Authority guidelines.
• Verify contractor billings against Engineering Department’s field records, contractor’s/consultant’s records, and contract terms.
• Examine Authority business processes, systems, and operations, including the business and accounting records of third parties.
• Review construction contracts’ extra work and net cost components billed on time and material basis, including burden/overhead rates.
• Conduct audits at contractor offices, Authority facilities, or the Audit Department offices based on assignments.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proven experience in internal auditing, preferably within construction or large infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of audit principles, standards, and procedures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with audit software tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple assignments.
• Willingness to conduct field work at various locations, including contractor offices and Authority facilities.

Start Date:

Assignments will begin on March 25, 2024, with the onboarding process starting in late February to early March
