Leading tier I automotive supplier is adding a Payroll Specialist to work in their human resources team. As the Payroll Specialist you will report to the HR Manager and will be responsible for the following payroll tasks.  Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
 

  • Learn the payroll process for hourly and salaried staff and process payroll 
  • Key payroll on a weekly basis into the payroll system
  • Manage the payroll process and be able to handle confidential information on a daily basis 
  • Complete weekly payroll exceptions manually in the system
  • Close out payroll and create required payroll reports 
  • Work with a 3rd party to complete the tax process, having a general understanding of the state and federal tax process
  • Troubleshoot payroll processes and eventually serve as the site payroll expert
  • Oversee garnishments and child support deductions 
  • Enter and set up new employees into the payroll system 
  • Work closely with accounting on payroll process
  • Initiate improvements in the payroll process
  • Complete reporting functions within the HRIS and payroll system, including extracting data into Excel for additional analysis 
  • Make certain that benefit deductions are accurate 
  • Ensure that payroll is posted to the proper accounts 
  • Other duties as delegated by the manager
 
This is a hands-on position that requires qualified candidates to complete their own data entry and analysis. You will participate in cross-functional teams in a supportive and collaborative work environment. Candidates should enjoy cross training with other HR professionals and being creative in the continuous improvement process.

REQUIREMENTS for the Payroll Specialist:
1. Bachelor's degree with at least a co-op and/or internship working in payroll or a high school diploma with at least 3-5 years in a similar payroll processing position
2. Ideally experience processing payroll at a manufacturer (or a large employer with a head count of at least 100 people)
3. Experience working with a payroll system (examples include ADP, Paycom, Paylocity) OR an HRIS system that has a payroll processing feature
4. Experience keying payroll 
5. Microsoft Office, including strong MS Excel skills

Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. Automotive supplier work experience
2. International business experience 
3. HRIS experience 
4. Human resources experience

Candidates are preferred to be local to the Findlay, OH area.  There is not any relocation for this position.
