Job Description

School-Based Mental Health Therapist

Are you a passionate mental health professional looking for a rewarding position where you can make a lasting impact on children and families? Allied Behavioral Health Solutions is seeking a School-Based Mental Health Therapist to provide essential counseling services to students in Jefferson County schools.

As a therapist with Allied, you will be pivotal in ensuring students receive the mental health support they need by providing individual and group counseling. You'll work closely with school counselors and staff, using evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s in Social Work or a related discipline and possess strong communication skills, the ability to build quick rapport with children and families, and the capacity to remain calm and effectively manage crisis situations within an interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling services utilizing evidence-based practices.

  • Provide education regarding behavioral health needs to staff and families as needed.

  • Appropriately assess and diagnose the identified client, per insurance requirements.

  • Maintain timely intake, session, data collection, and billing documentation.

  • Collaborate with school counselors on school needs and RTI-B tiered intervention.

  • Assist with the implementation of regulating and coping activities for students as needed.

  • Coordinate referrals and additional services within and outside of the school system to support student outcomes.

  • Cooperate with the Team Coordinator to identify ongoing needs for behavioral health services and make appropriate recommendations for programming that may best support the identified children/families.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Social Work, Counseling, or related discipline.

  • Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft OFFICE, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

  • LCSW, Licensed School Counselor, or related licensure is preferred.

  • Experience working in a medical and/or clinical setting is preferred.
