Position Summary: The Radiation Therapist, an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Therapist, plays a crucial role in administering radiation therapy as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. This role involves direct interaction with diverse individuals, including patients with cancer, physicians, nurses, patients' families, and colleagues. Effective interpersonal communication skills are essential for this role.
The nature of cancer spans across all age groups, necessitating the involvement of the Radiation Therapist in the care of individuals ranging from newborns to geriatrics.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists as a Radiation Therapist
  • Profound understanding of departmental functions, the purpose of radiation therapy, and the ability to communicate this effectively to nurses, physicians, Medical Center staff, and the public
  • Prior experience in a Radiation Oncology Department is desirable but not required
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer radiation therapy in accordance with the treatment plan prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, patients' families, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in departmental functions and possess the ability to educate and inform others about the principles and applications of radiation therapy.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines in the delivery of radiation therapy.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to contribute to the comprehensive care of patients undergoing radiation therapy.
  • Stay updated on advancements in radiation therapy techniques and technologies.
